Try Winter Sports
TRY WINTER SPORTS is a youth awareness campaign dedicated to promoting the health benefits of winter sports.
The aim is to provide access to winter resorts for youth from families with low income and limited possibilities to get to the point of destination. A shuttle bus will be organized for a group of students to help them participate in all discounted winter activities (on dedicated days of the week- night skiing, snowboarding & tubing). TRY WINTER SPORTS benefits youth in the following ways:
- Provides access to active winter sports for a low cost.
- Gives an opportunity to try various kinds of winter activities at low cost.
- Promotes a healthy and active lifestyle.
Youth for Environmental Awareness
Eco-oriented competitions are held through the media, community communication aids, and internet networking. The idea is to educate kids and teens that there are many ways to take action and guide them on how they can add more green elements to their community along the way. The best 3 projects/events that were done by a child to help their home, school, or community to go green will be selected and rewarded. They can do this project on their own or as a part of a group or class. It’s important for young people to see the fact that other kids are doing “Green” things too; to know that their efforts are a part of their community life, and to realize that they can make a difference.
We sincerely hope that YOUTH FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS becomes an annual program because of its positive impact on the community:
- Raising awareness about environmental issues in the community.
- Encouraging young people in GTA to take action to make their schools, homes, and communities caring, supportive, and environmentally sustainable places.
- Supporting “Green” projects at K-12 schools, and communities of GTA.
- Demonstrating that there’s so much a kid or a teen can do NOW to increase his or her green practice.

Project benefits:
- Increase awareness of the health benefits of physical activity to new immigrants and refugees in Toronto / GTA.
- Provide information and adaptation services during the most stressful first month of settlement in Canada by uniting newcomers together to allow them to organize their mini-communities and avoid unnecessary stress.
- Assist in overcoming barriers for newcomers by empowering them with job search strategies designed to make potential employers take notice of immigrants’ key strengths and achievements.
Start Playing Soccer
Our interactive educational program focuses on health, social, and soccer/football skills. While children learn to play the game, they also learn social skills like teamwork, fair play, and peaceful solutions. Each weekly session is a building block in an activity-based 10-week program that encourages children to put these new skills into practice on the playing field and in their daily lives at home and in the community.
Project benefits:
- Children enrolled in the program transfer what they learn from the weekly sessions into their daily lives, homes, and communities by practicing and sharing new skills with friends and family.
- As our volunteer youth instructors train and teach the START PLAYING SOCCER program, they develop the leadership skills and credentials that equip them for employment and encourage them to lead productive lives in their communities.
- START PLAYING SOCCER collaborates with local, national, and international organizations that share our commitment to maximize scarce resources and develop grassroots initiatives that can positively impact communities.
Get Active Together
This initiative is created for enhancing athletic experiences and sharing enthusiasm and experience with others. Most people who join love the athletic lifestyle, want to have fun, and enjoy having the support of other team members while training throughout the season.
GET ACTIVE TOGETHER project also aims to increase youth involvement in health promotion and actions to address areas where it is most needed. This initiative will build new partnerships and strengthen existing partnerships among youth and communities by means of:
- Promoting the benefits of physical fitness and holistic health alternatives and motivating participants towards healthy lifestyles and wiser choices.
- Enabling individuals to learn and experience for themselves the benefits of healthy living.
- Encouraging parents to get outside and use parks and walking trails with their children to raise awareness of the importance of playing outside. It also helps the opportunity to gather data on what families would like to see added or changed in their neighbourhood.
